Sierra

Sweet 18 year old APHA chestnut mare for Half-Lease.
I have an 18 year old APHA mare available for half lease. I would love to find someone to love her on the days I cant go see her. I’m looking for an intermediate rider who can ride independently. We are working on dressage and primarily trail riding. She is a fast learner and really wants to please. The barn is primarily an adult barn, a mature teenager would be great. She does do small jumps but would like to limit it due to her age. There are instructors available at the farm for further instruction as well. I would like to work with the right person so they can establish a good relationship. I really want to find the right fit for her, I’ve owned her for 10 years and just don’t have as much time with my new job. While she is 18, she still has a lot of spunk and is ready to go for miles. Many think she is around 10 years of age. The price is negotiable to the right person.

Sam I Am

I sadly have to find a new home for my adorable chestnut QH gelding whom I have owned for over 5 years. Sam is 14 years old and 15.2 H. He has done low level eventing, rides English, neck reins, and W/T/C. Sam LOVES to trail ride and jump. In fact, he will actually try to pull me in the direction of a trail at our barn! He does not spook easily and usually prefers to be in the middle when going out with a group. Will go through water, wood bridges, etc. He is an easy keeper- goes barefoot and has lived outside 24/7 for the last several years. Sam does not like to be the only horse- has lived with one other and in a herd situation (is usually more a "top dog" in the herd).
Sam would need an intermediate - experienced horseperson as he can have a stubborn streak! He just needs a firm, yet calm leader in the saddle with gentile hands. Sam does have some difficulty with trailering. I had a older teenager leasing him last summer and she would take him everywhere and he got good at going on/off a trailer. When there has been some time off from traveling, he can be stubborn to get on the trailer. Once on, he is fine (especially if there is a big bag of hay!). I am just not good at keeping up with this as I have not gone on many outings lately.
He has great ground manners and will ground tie on most days! He will stand and be groomed all day if he could! Does not mind baths, good for farrier, dentist and vet (although seems to know when a needle is coming!). He is up to date on all his shots and just had the dentist visit this past month. Sam is NOT fancy....but very cute! He has a great personality and I really think he would be happiest out of the ring and on the trails and or jumping in fields!
This is a very hard decision for me as I do love my horse very much- it is what is best for my family situation and for my own health. The price can be negotiated as I am not looking to make a lot of money - but I do need to find a great home. Free lease would also be considered.
